ONE DAY - THE REVIEWS

With an immediacy in tune with his generation, an intimacy that provokes a heartfelt response and a power that takes the breath away, Jamie Hill's solo debut is an accomplished collection of razor-edged songs.

A great selection of new passionate, heartfelt worship songs. God-focused, cross-centred songs that will resource the church.
- Tim Hughes

Some great vocals and a great sense of rock... Stuff that flows from the Truth and from the heart.
- Tre Sheppard - One Hundred Hours

This is a collection of worship songs that are obviously very heartfelt and personal, mostly delivered in a no nonsense rock style, but also featuring some slower songs. This album makes a refreshing change from all the bland material that seems to come out of the US these days. From the opening track "Creator God", right through there is not a bad track on this CD. Also included are the words and music, all laid out ready for printing straight to acetates for projection. To be honest I'm not sure that all of the songs here would work in a general worship meeting, but there are a lot here that would. "Faithful God" and "Lord I Receive Your Love" stand out. Jamie will be familiar to anyone who is into "Quench" as he's part of that set-up. I would definitely recommend this CD to anyone who likes their worship songs to have a bit of attitude to them, without going over the top. 10/10.

All power to ICC for supporting the Quench frontman with his "other" ministry, worship. Jamie is much more than a man with lung power and gritty voice able to make itself heard above roaring rock guitars. He has a worshipper's heart, a fact which will have been recognised by everyone who caught Jamie's stirring contributions to the 'Spring Harvest Distinctive'. This set of songs, some of which have been heard at Spring Harvest youth celebrations and New Wine's The Path [Thirst] youth meetings, are everything strong worship songs should be: bold declarations of love and faith with simple yet catchy lyrics. It doesn't stop there. Producer/engineer Trevor Michael has conjured up some unexpected and clever arrangements with the male chorus on "Jesus All I Have", a joyful delight. Both the rockers, like the noisily riffing opener "Creator God", and the softer acoustic tracks like "Faithful God" work well and one is left hoping ICC's publishing arm can get some of these excellent songs into our songbooks. They certainly deserve to be there.

As the lead singer with British rock band Quench, Jamie Hill has made a name for himself as an uncompromising rocker with a built-in heart for worship. There have always been worship elements to the work of his band and these have now been fulfilled in his first solo album. Drawing on songs penned for his own church and for Spring Harvest youth celebrations where Jamie has led worship, One Day explodes with lively, anthemic guitar-drenched praise and gentler, more intimate moments. The result is an intense yet sensitive worship album that is unafraid to rock out. An additional enhanced section provides musical scores and resources for worship leaders.
